Life lessons from Sri Lanka
Recently, I fulfilled the dream of visiting Sri Lanka, an experience that further reinforced the importance of slowing down and living with full presence, principles that already guide my approach to Decor Wellness, such as quiet luxury and slow living.
In the West, these values have often been forgotten, but they are central pillars of Casa Wellness. During this trip, I had the opportunity to fully experience these principles through various activities throughout the day, making the experience truly unforgettable.
These principles, often overlooked in the hectic pace of Western life, invite us to embrace a life with more mindfulness and intention. In Sri Lanka, I was able to fully immerse myself in this philosophy, which only strengthened the essence of what I strive to create in Casa Wellness.
The local culture, heavily influenced by Buddhism, values presence and contemplation in daily life. The offerings of flowers and food that adorn public spaces are a tangible manifestation of the celebration of life and the practice of being fully in the moment.
This way of life, based on simplicity and a slower pace, deeply resonates with the global movement towards a more mindful lifestyle. In various countries, there is a growing desire to revive and embrace this way of living that promotes well-being and inner harmony.
In Sri Lanka, I realized that life is lived with a unique reverence. Every moment is treated as sacred, from the first breakfast to the most routine tasks, becoming an offering to life itself. This experience further reinforced the concept of Casa Wellness, where every environment is designed as a ritual, a space to remember the impermanence and sacredness present in all aspects of our existence.
Moreover, my connection with the local tea plantations brought back precious memories from my childhood, when my grandparents used to pick me up from school, and upon arriving at their house, I was always greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly brewed black tea with milk. This aroma carried a sense of warmth that truly comforted the heart.
At five-thirty, we would follow a slow-living ritual, our traditional afternoon tea, where conversations flowed unhurriedly and my grandparents shared fascinating stories about their lives, creating a space where we formed a strong and genuine family connection.
It was a moment of abundance, a true luxury, where every detail – from my grandfather’s stories about Japan, the lemon cake, to the special tableware my grandmother used daily – contributed to creating memories that remain alive within me to this day.
Memories like these, from such a loving and present environment, inspired me to become an architect, to create spaces that foster connection and the celebration of daily life.
Fulfilling the dream of visiting Sri Lanka was definitely a renewing experience.
Being there revealed to me the magic present in the simplest aspects of daily life, showing how sacred it can be to live with presence and intention.
The serenity of the tea plantations and the tranquil pace of life reinforced my belief that the true essence of well-being is not found in excess, but in finding joy in the everyday habits. This is precisely what Decor Wellness offers: a unique approach that integrates harmony, beauty, and a profound sense of well-being.

I can say that, beyond returning home even more passionate about architecture and interior design projects, this experience reaffirmed the Decor Wellness philosophy, where creating spaces goes beyond aesthetics to promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
