Where do you feel most energized and with your “batteries charged”?
Our home should be the place where we feel most comfortable, where we recharge our energy, and where we return to our natural state. I bet you thought of a natural location, which could be a beach, the mountains, a forest, whatever.
This is no coincidence; nature is where we get this feeling because we’re connected to it; we are a part of nature, and it is as if returning to nature is truly “returning to home.”. However, in the busy lives of big cities, it is not always possible to be in a place of nature, especially during the week, so the challenge is to bring nature into the home.
And this doesn’t simply mean having plants inside the house, but rather, making the environment so that it provides well-being and welcome to all residents. All the well-being that comes from the outside is reflected inside, and the result is an atmosphere of much more happiness, and good mood.
Tips on how to make your home more like nature:
1 – Abuse of natural lighting
Take advantage of natural light as much as possible. In addition to being an eco-friendly measure, you bring the natural light and heat that nature provides into your home. For those who work from home, it is even more important to have well-lit environments, whether with natural or artificial light, as it helps with focus. Furthermore, the presence of natural light is beneficial for our body, which understands when to wake up and rest.
But if that’s not possible, bet on:
2 – Take advantage of the energy of aromas
You can bring nature closer to home through aromas that remind you of your favorite environments. To do this, you can use diffusers with essential oils along with scents that remind you of the sea, the mountains, rainy days and your childhood vacations. Aromas have the power to bring back very strong emotional memories and increase our feeling of being at home.
My favorites are:
Rosemary with Lavender, White Gardenia and Lemongrass.
3 – Plant it!
You can grow, in small spaces in the kitchen, the spices and herbs that you like to use most in it. In addition to being practical and healthy, your kitchen will always smell delicious, and you will have everything you need at hand to prepare meals for yourself and the people you love.
I like to grow: rosemary, basil – how about a recipe for ricotta pasta with basil?
4 – Bring the sensation of touch
Nature is full of textures and reliefs: the soft sand of the beach, the rough trunk of the tree, the velvety flower petal, the grass with sharp tips… We also learn through touch and connect with spaces through it, so one way to make your environment as natural as possible is by investing in different textures, which can be in carpets, upholstery, cushions, sheets and blankets.
And photographs: we can select some to show.
5 – Create a suitable place to rest
Nature leads us to rest, to perceive its sounds and connect with them. You are encouraged to rest, and your resting place at home should bring you that feeling of welcome and warmth, which can be achieved with a comfortable bed, a quiet environment, soft-touch bedding, cozy lighting and good ventilation.
These are small tips that can greatly improve your relationship with your home!
